The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 can now be updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean via SlimBean Build 6 ROM. The SlimBean Build 6 offers optimization and bug fixes for the build which was available earlier along with some new features. There is always a chance with the custom firmware that it might have some bugs and issues.
The key features are such as major T9 dialer improvements, TruView added to camera, DC-HSPA+ to framework, TRDS 2.0, DashClock updates, Torch FC, fixed BTMAP requests, auto brightness sensitivity and more. The custom ROMs are however not recommended but are popular with the android enthusiasts.
Before beginning with the process you are required to keep in mind these pre-requisites. You should make sure that Note II is charged to atleast 80% battery in order to stop your phone from bricking during installation. Turn on the USB debugging mode if it has been disabled. You will require a Galaxy Note II GT 7100 model which is both carrier unlocked and has an unlocked bootloader.
Ensure that USB drivers for your phone are installed on your computer. Keep in mind that the instructions we have mentioned are only for Galaxy Note II with model number GT 7100 and not for any other device. Download SlimBean Build 6 ROM and Google Apps to your phablet before proceeding with the installation process.
Begin installation process by connecting your handset with computer using USB port. To the root folder of SD card on Note II copy the downloaded zip ROM and Google Applications. Now disconnect your device from computer and turn it off. Press the volume up, down and power buttons together in order to boot your handset. Make a back up of the original ROM so that it can be restored later if you do not like the new update. The Back up can be made by booting your note 2 handset.
Then Choose Backup and Restore and press the Backup on the next screen. Perform complete Data Wipe in order to eliminate the conflicts between new ROM and original ROM. Perform Wipe Dalvik Cache and Wipe Cache partition under advance options. The Zip file should be installed on SD card and locate the SlimBean Build 6 ROM by selecting the power button. Give confirmation for ROM installation and then repeat the previous step by choosing SlimBean Gapps zip. Finally make sure that the installation is completed by returning to the main menu and restarting your phone.
